We Found Our House!!!!
We were blessed to come "full circle" tonight ...

August 20th, I emailed a realtor about this home. At the time, she had two cash offers and 7 back up offers. She was nice, seemed like a great realtor and so we "hired" her and we have been super happy ... although not found "our" house... or so we thought. We met her tonight to look at three homes. We looked through the first home and although nice, not ours. She then smiled and said "Well...." and she went on to tell us that her cash buyer pulled out because he bought another 8,000 sq foot house for 400k (yes, that's cash my friends) and this one became available again today. She had to call her other back up cash offer and the mother decided it was too big for her son/daughter in law and refused to give him the 200k after all. They were out. Yes... God took out the two cash buyers in front of us... gave us FAVOR and she told us in front of the (now) 11 other people waiting on her desk for this house.... and so we went over there and IT'S OURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It became bank owned through a nasty divorce and so there is a lot of cleaning up/out to do... some finishing work to do... but totally livable and OURS!!!! It's not going to be taken from us... there isn't any mold.... and IT'S OURS!!!! ... for 195,00 !!!!!
Some other details:
5 big bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, 5,000 sq feet, 10 acres, a huge pole barn with a loft... the kitchen also has space for two refrigerators and a double oven! yeah!
We should be able to close/move in about 45 days!
Pictures on the blog ... more to come.
Correction: It's actually a short sale, not a bank owned.
Our mortgage will be for 190,000... plus a 5,000 cash pay out that the court ordered in the divorce (we have to bring 5k to closing so that the bank will release the title). They won't be paying any concessions, but we "got" 3.5% down ... so I will be changing the minimum chip in amount to reflect the things we need at closing. Of course, should God provide it debt free and want to blow our sock off... we'd be Aokay with that!
A Kingdom Sized Goal- Project Home
We are Ben and Kim and we live with our ten children, ages 1-9, in a small Mid-West town. We originally adopted our first child ten years ago from Korea due to infertility reasons, but after our second Korean adoption, we felt God calling us to adopt not only the lost sheep... but the broken ones. We went on to adopt three more children from Korea with special needs. After that, we were blessed with a sibling set from Libera, W. Africa ... followed by two private domestic adoptions from the United States. We adopted our tenth daughter two months ago through an adoption disruption. She was born in China four years ago, but brought to the US last year.

Seven years ago we bought a house not far from here which had three bedrooms, one bathroom and 1600 sq feet. At that time, we only had two children. Two years ago, when we were unable to sell that house due to the economy and having reached our "breaking point" with only one bathroom and three bedrooms, we were prompted by the Holy Spirit to lease it out. When we were obedient (leasing was something we had no desire to do), God immediately showed us leasers and opened up a huge house in the perfect location - for lease. We have been leasing this house (2600 sq feet plus a basement) for the last two years. We have been able to carry out a lot of ministry here! Not only have we adopted three more times in the last two years, but we have done respite care for one-six months for two young girls whose parents needed a break from their behaviors, taken in a single mom and her five children for a month, and have also been a safe haven for another single mom's daughter during a troubled time of transition. A lot of Kingdom work has happened here and for that we celebrate!

About a month ago, part of our house caught on fire due to a box fan's motor. We were blessed that no one was hurt and it was only the master suite that was burnt/damaged. However, that has meant that for the last month, my husband and I have been sleeping apart on separate couches and that we are down to one bathtub for 12 people. However, the biggest thing is that through this fire, we learned that the owners of the house had stopped paying on their mortgage several months ago and are headed towards foreclosure. They hadn't told us, nor do we think they would have... so this was a blessing in disguise. We estimate that we have about 2 months left before the house goes back to the bank.

We were approved for a home loan (much to our surprise) two weeks ago. We started looking for houses and found that there are only a handful of houses on the market, in our desired area, with five or more bedrooms under 250,000. Through talking to our realtor, we found out that most of the large houses in our area are bought up by investors with cash. 200,000-ish cash. We can't compete with that... the best we can do is a FHA loan at 3.5% percent (and seller concessions to help!). However, we found a huge bank owned eight bedroom house last week on an acre that didn't have an offer on it! We quickly put one together and submitted it. The bank didn't even counter offer... they flat out rejected it because we weren't a conventional loan or cash buyer. They wouldn't even consider our offer. It doesn't matter that they haven't had any other offers... they are holding out for a cash offer, or a conventional loan (40,000 down) at the minimum.

I posted our disappointment on our blog and we received a letter a few days later from a blog friend (and pastor's wife) Jen in California. We are so so humbled that anyone would even consider mentioning a GOD SIZED task/dream like what she has described! We obviously don't operate under the category "normal" (haha!) and so this made total sense to us ... why? but why not? as well!

A Chip In widget has been created in our honor and can be posted on all blogs, facebook, twitter, etc pages. While her vision is raising all of the 200,000 to buy this eight bedroom house cash, our initial goal is the 40,000 conventional cash down payment by next Monday, Sept 7th. so that the bank will even consider our offer and it can be taken off the market. If not, we run the risk of an investor buying it with their cash. When they do, no one will live in it ... it will be bought for a cash return down the road ... our desire is to buy it for a *heavenly investment*! .... to fill it with more children, more single moms, and do more respite care for weary families!!!

Feel free to check out our blog at www.hishandshisfeettoday.blogspot.com to check out our realness, pictures of "the mansion" as our kids call it, and for pictures of the ten children the Lord has blessed us with!

With Humility,
Ben and Kim ... and their 10 blessings

Jen's Admonition
Jen's challenge and admonition:
What if God moved in the hearts of a young couple, just starting out and without a lot of money, to adopt a child?
AND, they obeyed?
What if God put it on their hearts again and again during the next 10 years to adopt another child, and then another?
AND, they obeyed?
What if God called them to live a life of faith and trust in Him as they left behind the things of this world and instead invested in the lives of His precious children?
AND, they obeyed?
THEN, you would be looking at the incredible (yet true) lives of Kim and Ben and their ten (yes, TEN!) precious adopted gifts from God: now being raised in a loving and godly family to be warriors in His kingdom!
Now,
What if this family was in need of a home in which they could raise these ten children (and maybe more) in the love and admonition of the Lord?
What if, in an amazing turn of events that some call the "state of the economy", such a home could be had for only 200,000.00, but only if you have cash?
What if this couple doesn't have 200,000.00 in cash (at least partly because they have invested close to 100,000.00 in adopting 10 children!)?
What if God has already given his people a picture of what the body of Christ could actually look like?
"All the believers were together and had everything in common.
Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need."
Acts 2:44-45

What if only 10,000 (of the self-proclaimed 159 million) Christians in America decided that just for THIS week, they PERSONALLY would give up something, sell something, or find an extra odd job so that they could give just $20.00 towards helping this family have a home in which to raise their precious children?
What if?
I mean, can you imagine what an INCREDIBLE blessing this would be? What an amazing story of God's people joining together to care for orphans and to love their brothers and sisters in Christ!
I know times are tough financially right now for so many people and I certainly don't have 200,000.00 just lying around (and I doubt many of my readers do either). . . but, can I come up with 20.00? The real answer is YES - if it is important enough to me, I can certainly find 20.00 that would help Kim and Ben buy a home in which to raise their children in righteousness! I can't help but believe that there are at least 10,000 other families who can certainly do the same.
And so, believing that God is able to do exceedingly more than all we ask or imagine, I am introducing "PROJECT HOME: because every child needs one." Can we (the Body of Christ) come together and provide the physical place needed for Kim and Ben to continue their amazing ministry to these awesome children? I think we can!
